WHS2011 Add Ins

Windows Home Server 2011 supports Add Ins created specifically for WHS2011.  

Add Ins created for Windows Home Server V1.0 will not work on WHS2011.

We will be using this page to list WHS2011 Add Ins, and where possible provide our review


AWIECO DriveInfo

The AWIECO DriveInfo is a free add-in for Windows Home Server 2011 and Small Business Server 2011 Essentials. The add-in integrates itself into the "Server Folders and Hard Drives" area of your Dashboard. It shows a graphical overview of your hard disks and drives inside the Dashboard.

The AWIECO RemoteLauncher add-in for Small Business Server 2011 Essentials and Windows Home Server 2011 is a free and useful add-in, which gives you more administrative possibilities to manage your SBS or WHS remotely. With this add-in you have access to predefined System Tools

AWIECO WakeOnLAN (not tested by Tranquil)

The AWIECO WakeOnLAN add-in for Windows Home Server 2011 and Small Business Server 2011 Essentials is a free and useful add-in, which has the ability to remotely turn on a computer. It enables the Server to start up every computer attached to your network. You can also power off a computer out of the Launchpad. The gadget on the WHS or SBS web-interface shows a list of all available and connected computers within your network and provides the possibility to start them up from any location inside your network or via internet, by just one mouse click. You can add further computers to your network manually by entering the MAC address or even delete them. The add-in automatically recognises if a computer is already turned on or if it is booting up.

Snoop-de-dupe (not tested by Tranquil)

A new add-in for Windows Home Server was released today: Snoop-de-dupe! It watches your server in real-time and notifies you when duplicate files appear on the server. You can view the duplicates and take action on them (delete, create a hard-link to save HDD space, or ignore) directly from the Home Server Console. A version supporting Windows Home Server (original) is now available; support for WHS/SBS 2011 is coming soon.

TV4Home (not tested by Tranquil)

“TV4Home installs MediaPortal TV Server on your Windows Home Server. You can then record your favorite TV shows or stream Live-TV to network clients.
The installation procedure is based on easy to use wizards, which means you can get your TV Server up and running in a couple of minutes!

Lights Out for WHS2011

Lights-Out enhances a Windows Home Server in these areas:

  • Power management, to run your server on demand
  • Client backup, to run a scheduled backup and use Wake-On-Lan
  • Uptime chart, to give a graphical overview of device activity in your network

AutoExit for WHS2011

ASoft AutoExit for Windows Home Server is a console add-in for Windows Home Server 2011.

It can be used to shut down, reboot machines in your home network from within the console. Wake On Lan is also supported, this enables you to easily boot up machines remotely.
You can put the machine into hibernation, sleep, log off the user or lock the machine. hut down from the toolbar now. 
You can execute these actions per machine or for all machines.
