The Intel Next Unit of Computing (NUC) - Amazing performance, from a tiny PC, now you can make yours silent, rugged and improve it's performance* and reliability. Should you wish you can also have your name or project name lasered on the front!
Introducing the latest innovation from Tranquil PC, the in-house nicknamed 'NUC Job' has been a priority project for our design engineers and provides a near perfect chassis for the Intel NUC boards.
Cut from aerospace grade aluminium and caringly finished by hand, before being anodised, the Tranquil NUC case ensures silent (fan less) operation, long term reliability and rugged beauty.
The NUC case does not include the Intel NUC board. The NUC boards are available in most countries from £180 (ex) - if you don't already own one a quick Google search for 'Intel NUC' should help you.
This chassis is for the Intel NUC BY (Thunderbolt board D33217CK) not the YE (GBE LAN board D33217GKE ).

More about why a fanless NUC is best
The Intel NUC has been branded the ultimate in 'compact media streaming boxes' and if it wants to keep it's title it's going to have to keep it's cool... that's where Tranquil PC's NUC Case comes into play. During our research of the Intel NUC we discovered multiple reviews where the critics were commenting on the excessive heat readings they were getting and how the fan would speed up to compensate for the increase in temperature, thus resulting in a loud distracting buzz. When considering the NUC seems otherwise perfect as a playback device for your media content, being offered in a small discrete form factor, the irritation of a buzzing fan would surely put many buyers off, however for the modest price of just £99.00 (ex) you can enjoy your Intel NUC in silence as well as having a beautifully designed chassis under your TV from Britain's own Tranquil PC.
The Tranquil NUC chassis measures 110 (D) x 164 (W) x 47 (H) mm
How does it cool, is it better that a factory NUC?
The fan less case cools down the CPU and Northbridge by direct thermal sinking - that is the chassis itself acts as a huge heatsink, with over 110,000 square millimeters of cooling area. Not only does this keep the unit cool (generally much cooler that a fan assisted standard NUC**), but the heat rises and falls much, much slower - which causes less damage - extending the life of the silicon chips. No fan means no noise, it also means no dust can enter the chassis - extending the operational life far beyond any normal PC.
* - there have been reports of the original NUC overheating and the CPU being throttled back.
** - controlled burn tests show the CPU in a brand new NUC unit, with fan fitted will run 5-15'C hotter than that in a Tranquil NUC case (after an extended period).
Over time this becomes worse as the tiny fan vents become blocked and the fan becomes less effective.
